Description:
Abstract: This layer depicts the pot fishery fishing effort expressed as pots set from 2011 to 2020. The Oregon pot fishery fishes for sablefish and other groundfish species using pots (or fish traps) over various habitats off the Oregon coast in various depths out to 700 fathoms.The layer was developed using the kernel density function in ArcPro 2.8.3 using default settings. Fishery logbook data are recorded on standardized data sheets by fishermen during their fishing operations. The logbooks are later turned over to ODFW for data entry and processing. Because the data are recorded by many independent sources, ODFW cannot guarantee the accuracy of all logbook data.This layer was developed for large-scale offshore wind energy development planning off of Oregon, and should be used for that purpose only. Use for offshore wind siting or other purposes would require additional analyses of the data.
