Technology has been demonstrated on a commercial scale in shallow zone depths (0-30m) with foundation types including monopile, gravity base, and suction buckets designs. In the transition zone (30-60m), technology has not been demonstrated on a commercial scale. However, several small scale projects have been successfully installed and commissioned, with foundation types including tripod, jacket, and tripile designs. Several pilot projects have been successfully demonstrated in the deepwater zone (60 - 900m), with foundation types including spar, semi-submersible, and tension leg platform designs. Purpose: To support ocean planning activities pursuant to the Executive Order Regarding the Ocean Policy to Advance the Economic, Security, and Environmental Interests of the United States, the Energy Policy Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Rivers and Harbors Act, and the Coastal Zone Management Act.
