Abstract: This layer depicts markety squid fishing effort expressed as a footprint of purse seine sets (areas where sets occurred) from 2016 to 2020. The Oregon market squid fishery fishes for market squid using purse seine gear over sand or gravel bottom in from Bandon to Cape Falcon, Oregon between approximately 5-30 fathoms.The layer was developed by plotting market squid sets from seine logbooks, and hand-drawing polygon features at the outer extent of groups of points using the ArcMap editor tool.Fishery logbook data are recorded on standardized data sheets by fishermen during their fishing operations. The logbooks are later turned over to ODFW for data entry and processing. Because the data are recorded by many independent sources, ODFW cannot guarantee the accuracy of all logbook data.This layer was developed for large-scale offshore wind energy development planning off of Oregon, and should be used for that purpose only. Use for offshore wind siting or other purposes would require additional analyses of the data.
