Abstract: This layer depicts longline fishing effort expressed as hooks set for effort from 2011 to 2020. The Oregon longline fishery fishes for sablefish and other groundfish using a longline with multiple hooks from northern California north to the central Washington coast between approximately 100 - 300 fathoms. The layer was developed using the kernel density function in ArcGIS Pro 2.8.3. Fishery logbook data are recorded on standardized data sheets by fishermen during their fishing operations. The logbooks are later turned over to ODFW for data entry and processing. Because the data are recorded by many independent sources, ODFW cannot guarantee the accuracy of all logbook data.This layer was developed for large-scale offshore wind energy development planning off of Oregon, and should be used for that purpose only. Use for offshore wind siting or other purposes would require additional analyses of the data.If the user intends to use the data for purposes other than large-scale offshore wind energy planning, please contact: ODFW Marine Resources Program [Justin Ainsworth] justin.c.ainsworth@odfw.oregon.gov
