ABOUT THE PORTAL

The West Coast Ocean Data Portal is a project of the West Coast Ocean Alliance. We aim to increase the discovery and connectivity of ocean and coastal data and people to better inform regional resource management, policy development, and ocean planning. The Portal informs priority West Coast ocean issues such as tracking sources and patterns of marine debris, adaptation to sea-level rise, understanding the impacts of ocean acidification on our coasts, and marine planning.

CONNECTING WITH OUR SISTER PORTALS MARCO and NROC

The West Coast Ocean Data Portal is one of the many Regional Data Sharing Portals nationwide, along with their associated Regional Ocean Partnerships. Some examples of these portals include our sister portal, the Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal (MARCO), with which we share our backend technology, and the Northeast Ocean Data Portal (NROC). Other regional portals include the Gulf Online Mapping Open Data Platform.
